My Professional Career
I think my first love was teaching, although the universities
I have worked at have tried desperately to subjugate that

I also
love doing research, although not that much recognition ever
flowed my way. I think my model of what constitutes research is
different from most others. Make your own judgement by visiting
my Research page. (Note that many
of the references therein are now inaccessible, due to the
original web pages being removed by Monash.)
Administration
In my latter years I found myself doing a lot of
Administration, particularly as Associate Dean Teaching in the
Faculty of IT, and then as Chair of the Academic Board, Monash
University. I'd venture to say that the years I spent as
Associate Dean Teaching were among my happiest, and most
rewarding. (The pages linked here have now been removed, as
they are obsolete.)
Retirement
In retirement, I am currently serving on the Academic Board of
the Melbourne Institute of Technology, and the IT Course
Committee of the Australian College of Applied Professions.
